Area girls’ basketball teams open postseason play

Editor’s note: Results from Monday’s games were not available due to an early deadline related to the inclimant weather conditions.

HURON — The postseason is under way for area Class A and B girls’ basketball teams.

Class A
Region 1
Redfield-Doland is the No. 2 seed and will host seventh-seeded Sisseton at 7 p.m. today in Redfield.
In other opening round games today, No. 4 Tiospa Zina will host No. 5 Groton Area and No. 3 Milbank hosts No. 6 Webster Area.
The winner of the Tiopsa Zina and Groton Area game will face top-seeded Aberdeen Roncalli on Thursday in Aberdeen in the semifinals, with the winner advancing to the Sweet 16.
The winners of the other two teams will meet Thursday at the site of the highest seed in the other semi-final game. The winner advances to the Sweet 16.
Region 6
Miller will be the second seed and will host seventh-seeded Stanley County today. The winner will face the winner of the matchup between No. 3 Cheyenne-Eagle Butte and Mobridge-Pollock game in the semifinals on Thursday.

Fourth-seeded McLaughlin will host No. 5 Chamberlain on today, with the winner advancing to face top-seeded Crow Creek in the semifinals on Thursday.
The winners in the semifinals will qualify for the Sweet 16.

Class B
Region 1
Clark-Willow Lake will be the fourth seed and will face fifth-seeded Florence/Henry at 6 p.m. today in Warner.
In the opening round Monday in Webster, No. 6 Northwestern faced No. 11 Aberdeen Christian at 4 p.m.; No. 7 Wilmot played No. 10 Britton-Hecla at 5:30 p.m.; and No. 8 Langford Area faced No. 9 Great Plains Lutheran at 7 p.m.
In other quarterfinal games today, top-seeded Warner will face Langford Area or Great Plains Lutheran at 8 p.m. In Warner; No. 2 Waubay/Summit will play Wilmot or Britton-Hecla and No. 3 Waverly-South Shore will play Northwestern or Aberdeen Christian.
The semifinals will be played at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Aberdeen Civic Area, with the winners advancing to the Sweet 16.
Region 2
Seventh-seeded Highmore-Harrold hosted No. 10 Edmunds Central Monday in Highmore and eighth-seeded Sunshine Bible Academy will hosted No. 9 Eureka-Bowdle.
Today in the quarterfinals, top-seeded Sully Buttes will host the winner between SBA and Eureka-Bowdle at 7 p.m.; No. 4 Leoal/Frederick Area will host Herreid/Selby Area at 7 p.m. In Leola; second-seeded Ipswich will host Highmore-Harrold or Edmunds Central at 7 p.m.; and No. 3 Faulkton Area will host No. 6 Potter County at 7 p.m.;
The semfinals will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the highest seed remaining of the winners in each bracket, with the winners advancing to the Sweet 16.
Region 3
No. 6 Wolsey-Wessington hosted No. 11 Iroquois on Monday. In other games Monday, No. 8 Estelline hosted Wessington Springs and No. 7 Arlington hosted No. 10 James Valley Christian.
Top-seeded Castlewood will host the winner of the Estelline and Wessington Springs game at 7 p.m. today; No. 4 Hitchcock-Tulare will host No. 5 Lake Preston at 7 p.m. today; No. 2 De Smet will host either Arlington or James Valley Christian at 7 p.m. today; and No. 3 Deubrook Area will host either Wolsey-Wessington or Iroquois at 7 p.m. today.
The semfinals are slated for 6 and 7:30 p.m. On Thursday at Madison High School. The winners advance to the Sweet 16.
Region 4
No. 7 Dell Rapids St. Mary hosted No. 10 Oldham-Ramona/Rutland on Monday and No. 8 Mitchell Christian hosted No. 9 Colman-Egan on Monday.
The quarterfinals will be held at Huron Arena today.
Top-seeded Hanson will face Mitchell Christian or Colman-Egan at 3:30 p.m.; No. 4 Elkton-Lake Benton will play No. 5 Sanborn Central-Woonsocket at 5 p.m.; No. 2 Ethan will face Dell Rapids St. Mary or Oldham-Ramona/Rutland at 6:30 p.m.; and No. 3 Howard will play No. 6 Chester Area at 8 p.m..
The semfinals are slated for 6:30 and 8 p.m. Thursday at Huron Arena with the winners advancing to the Sweet 16.
