Betty Peterson, 88, of Huron

HURON — Betty L. Peterson, 88, of Huron, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018, at SunQuest Healthcare in Huron.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 13, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with interment in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday followed by a Scripture Prayer Service and Rosary Service at 7 p.m. at the Welter Funeral Home or visitation one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church.
Betty Lorraine Kolousek was born October 28, 1929, in Crow Lake to Martin and Theresa (Chopskie) Kolousek, the youngest of six. She went to country school in Crow Lake and moved to Huron in 1950.
Betty met the love of her life, Chester Peterson and was married on September 7, 1955 in Minnesota. They lived in Huron where Betty worked for the Hickory House, the South Dakota State Fair, and the Westside Greenhouse and Fruit Market.
She enjoyed making rugs, reading, spending time with family, and playing cards. She was always ready to help others. She was a member of Huron Area Master Gardener’s, TOPS, and a lifetime member of Catholic Daughters. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.
She is survived by her four children, Valerie (Randy) Brodersen of Wolsey, Thelma Knudson of Huron, Velma (Robert) Kneen of Forestburg, and Tony (Tammy) Peterson of Wolsey. As well as twelve grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester in 2001; her brothers, Bernard and Pete Kolosek; and sisters Dorthy Bright, Sylvia Salathe, and Florence Maurice.
