Huron golfers finish fifth in Watertown

WATERTOWN — The Harrisburg Tigers shot a team total 311 Tuesday, to claim the top score at the Watertown Invitational Golf Meet. Harrisburg edged the home-standing Watertown Arrows by three strokes.
The Huron Tigers shot 336 as a team, one shot behind the Watertown Gold team that was fourth and seven strokes out of third place.
Aberdeen Roncalli golfer Lucas Schaefbauer earned medalist honors on the day, shooting an even-par 72, while Ethan Vikander of Aberdeen Central and Jake Olson of Watertown Gold shot matching 73s, with second going to Vikander in a scorecard playoff.

Huron was led by Landon Roberts, who shot a 77 to finish in seventh place at the event. Mason Rozell was 22nd with an 84 and Will Smith finished 31st with an 87. Nathan Gauer rounded out the Huron scorers with an 88, Marty Boetel shot 94 and Jacob Wehde carded a 95.
Huron is back in action on Saturday, when it hosts the Eastern South Dakota Conference Tournament at Broadland Creek, beginning at 10 a.m.
