Huron golfers open season in Brandon

BRANDON — The Huron boys’ golf team finished 14th during the final round of the Warrior-Lynx Invitational on Tuesday.
The Tigers finished with a score of 356.
Sioux Falls Roosevelt was the top team in the second round of the two-day event with a 302, while Sioux Falls Lincoln had a 303 and Rapid City Stevens finished at 304. Rounding out the top five were Yankton at 307 and Sioux Falls O’Gorman at 308.
Lincoln emerged as the overall champion with a two-day total of 601. Roosevelt was second at 603, followed by Yankton at 614, O’Gorman at 615 and Stevens at 618.

Huron did not compete in the first day of the event on Monday.
Will Allen of Harrisburg was the medalist on Tuesday with a 68, while Jack Hilgenberg of Lincoln was second with a 71.
Jack Lundin of Roosevelt and Ben Daane of Stevens shared the third spot with scores of 72, while Austin Frick of Yankton and Jack Eggebraaten of Roosevelt were tied for fifth at 73.
Landon Roberts led the Tigers with a score of 81, which placed him in a tie for the 31st spot.
Nathan Gauer carded an 89 for Huron to share spot No. 60. Rounding out the lineup were Will Smith and Marty Boetel with scores of 93.
Next up for the Tigers is a dual meet against Mitchell at 10 a.m. Thursday in Mitchell.
