Huron qualifies eight wrestlers for state tournament

EAGLE BUTTE — The Huron wrestling team had four individual champions during the Region 3A Wrestling Tournament on Saturday.
The Tigers, who had eight wrestlers qualify for the Class A State Tournament, were fourth in the final team standings with 137 points.
Pierre claimed the region title with 203.5 points, while Aberdeen Central was second at 169. Mitchell was third at 144, followed by Huron and Chamberlain at 113. Rounding out the field of teams were Milbank at 75, Todd County at 12 and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte at 7.
Winning titles for the Tigers were Chipper Shillingstad at 138 pounds, TahJae Jenkins Harris at 152, Travis Kleinsasser at 170 and Zack Siemonsma at 220.
Shillingstad, who improved to 28-5, pinned Cole Gehrke of Mitchell at 1:18 to win the title at 138.

Jenkins Harris recorded a 6-4 decision against Will Jarrott of Aberdeen Central and improved to 32-5 with the victory.
Kleinsasser, who is now 24-10, claimed the title at 170 with a 5-4 decision against Dillon Stoebner of Aberdeen Central.
Siemonsma recorded a 17-1 tech fall against Tanner Kettwig of Milbank to win the championship at 220 and improve to 15-5.
Others earning state berths for Huron were Wyatt Larsen, who was second at 182; Daynon Huber, who was third at 132, Gabe Rieger, who was fourth at 195; and Sebastian Cardona, who was fourth at 285.
The Class A State Wrestling Tournament will be held Friday and Saturday at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls.
