HURON — Julie M. DeJean, 73, of Huron, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020, at Avantara in Huron, South Dakota.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2020, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation with her family present will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Welter Funeral Home; or Monday morning one-hour prior the service at the church.
Julie M. McQuirk was born on February 23, 1946, in Manchester to parents, Cyril and Martha (McTighe) McQuirk. She graduated from Huron High School in 1964.
 On January 14, 1967, Julie married Lawrence (Larry) DeJean in Huron. Julie and Larry were members of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Julie was active in many jobs throughout her life. She owned and operated J & L Supper Club in Iroquois, Raven Industries, Haley’s’ Grocery, Lewis Drug, Northwestern Energy Customer Service. She had a twenty-year career as the manager of Casey’s General Store.
 Julie enjoyed camping and spending time at the lake jet-skiing. She loved to read and spend time with her family and friends, especially enjoying her grandchildren’s activities.
She is survived by her three children, LeeAnn (David) Verhoek of Estelline, Jason (Katie) DeJean of Odebolt, Iowa, and Tracy DeJean of Huron; seven grandchildren, Kyle Verhoek, Samantha Verhoek, Cooper DeJean, Beckett DeJean, Jaxx DeJean, Beau DeJean, and Zachary DeJean; two great-grandchildren, Autumn and Adalynn; siblings, Eva Schlenker of Watertown, Colleen (Wayne) Hemstreet of Iowa, Edward (Jayne) McQuirk of Utah, and Ruth (Gayle) Hauser of Utah; brothers-in-law, David (Penny) DeJean, Ralph (Connie) DeJean, Roger (Judy) DeJean, Don (Donna) DeJean, and Gary (Shelly) DeJean; sisters-in-law, Syble McQuirk, Connie (Darrell) Waldner and Mary (Don) O’Conner; and many nieces and nephews.
 Julie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry in 2013; sister, Virginia (Bob) Gilbert; and two brothers Gerald and Ralph McQuirk; brothers-in-law, Kenny and Evan DeJean, Frank Schlenker; sister-in-law, Arlene DeJean; niece, Kathy DeJean; and nephew, Brian Waldner.
