 WOLSEY — Leon Ambruce “Pete” Peterson, 82, of Wolsey, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017, surrounded by his family in Wolsey. 
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 24, at the First Presbyterian Church in Huron. Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Kuhler Funeral Home with his family present from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Leon Ambruce Peterson was born June 1, 1935, in Wolsey to Ralph and Ethel (Harrington) Peterson. He attended Wolsey Schools. He  enlisted in the S.D. National Guard and then furthered his military service with the U.S. Navy, serving from November 1954 to November 1958, when he was honorably discharged.
He was united in marriage to Audrey Faye Halbur July 9, 1961. In 1979, they purchased their hobby farm near Wolsey. Pete was employed as a night manager at Randall’s and later Coborn’s Foods. He retired after 50 years of service.
He is survived by his children, Dave (Beth) Peterson of Huron, Daniel (Marjorie) Peterson of Wolsey, and Charnelle (Rick) Wooledge of Sioux Falls; two grandchildren; siblings, Russell (Marilyn) Peterson of Sioux Falls, Bonnie (special friend, Tom Powers) Guimont of Maple Grove, Minn., and Gayle (Allen) Schroder of Huron; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey; sister, Beverly Brotherton; and an infant brother, Max Peterson.
