Shirley M. Chase, 84, of Huron

HURON — Shirley M. Chase, 84, of Huron, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020, at Avantara Huron.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hope Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with her family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. this evening at the Kuhler Funeral Home.
Shirley was born October 16, 1935, to George and Neva (Lucke) Freeburg at home in Frankfort. She was raised in the Frankfort area, attending elementary school in Frankfort, before attending high school in Redfield graduating in 1953.
On October 17, 1954, Shirley married Daryel “Dick” Chase at the Methodist Church in Frankfort.
Shirley spent many years as a farm wife and homemaker. She worked at the Huron Daily Plainsman as a proofreader from 1983-1992. In 1992, she became a realtor for Coldwell Banker Action Realty in Huron. Shirley loved working as a realtor and retired in 2017.
Family was always the most important thing to Shirley, her faith and music closely followed. She was  a member of Hope Lutheran Church and had over the years played the organ, sang in the choir, and was a Sunday school teacher. Shirley and Dick were previous members of Belles and Beaus Square Dance Club and Mr. and Mrs. Dance Club. She always enjoyed music and belonged to “Sisters of Harmony” and “Forever Friends” music groups. Shirley also was a member of the Good Willing Workers Club. She loved to bake, enjoyed watching game shows, watching country western programs and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Peggy (Larry) Bockorny of Huron, William “Bill” (Kathy) Chase of Wolsey, Patricia “Patty” (Brian) McGrane of Plymouth, Minn., and Roger (Michelle) Chase of Huron; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ann (Don) Grieben, and June Bottum; two brothers-in-law, Craig (Adele) Hanson, and Blair Meyers; three sisters-in-law, Marlis Freeburg, Marlene Churchill, and Karolyn (Gary) DeShazer; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, “Dick” on June 10, 2015; one brother, Robert Freeburg; two sisters, in infancy, Veda and Doris Freeburg; two brothers-in-law, Delbert Bottum, and Gordon Churchill; and one sister-in-law, Rita Hanson.
