Tami was born on April 19, 1961, in Grand Forks, N.D., to Charles and Janice (Johnson) Israel. She lived on the family farm in Cando until graduating from Cando High School. She attended North Dakota State University where she graduated with a degree in Agricultural Economics.
Tami worked for the USDA for 30-plus years before retiring in January 2016. She served in several field offices in North Dakota, Montana, and South Dakota and in the state office in Huron for the last six years. She enjoyed working with and for the producers and made many lifelong friends. She always found an adoptive Granny wherever she lived and a local sports team to cheer on, along with following the NDSU Bison football, UND Sioux hockey and the Minnesota Vikings. Tami also enjoyed collecting memorabilia with Coke being her favorite.
Tami was a quiet person and always concerned about others. She would always say “I’ll be ok, but just promise me you’ll take care of yourself.” She was a lifelong member of the Christian Fellowship Church in Cando, but always had a church family in her hometown.
She will be greatly missed by her parents, Charles and Janice of Cando; brother, Kirk of Thompson Falls, Mont., and special friend Gloria Halvorson of Bottineau, N.D.; aunts and uncles, Darlene (Don) Albertson, Churchs Ferry, N.D., Robert (Linda) Israel, Rose Hill, Kan., Lyle (Cathy) Johnson, Cando, Patsy (Larry) Larson, Cando; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Paul and Bernice Israel and Adolf and Eunice Johnson; great-grandparents, Charles and Clara Israel, George and Mathilda Newman, Hans and Sophie Johnson, and Thomas and Katie Shock; cousin, Blaine Albertson; and aunt, Donna Mae Israel.
Arrangements are under the care of Welter Funeral Home in Huron and Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando.
