SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — William “Bill” A. George, 90, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away Monday, July 10, 2017.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 18, at Hatfield Funeral Home in Sierra Vista, Ariz. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the servcie. Interment will follow at Southern Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery with Navy Honors at 1 p.m.
Bill was born on March 26, 1927, in Hardin, Mont. to Harry and Elizabeth (Hardt) George. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the duration of WWII.
He was united in marriage to Mary Jane Gilbert in Fromberg, Mont. in 1950, and eventually they moved to Huron. He retired from Sibley Motors in 1990, and spent many years traveling with his wife as snowbirds to Ariz., becoming permanent residents in 2002. He was an avid horseman, mostly raising Quarter horses. He was also a successful Square Dance/Round Dance caller for over 50 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Jane: three daughters, Marylin (Mike) Paulson, Kathryn (Chuck) Ross, and Sue (JP) Higgins; three grandchildren, Rebecca Eder, Mary Tyree, and David Paulson; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Cook, and Sharon Steffan; and many nieces, nephews, and family.
The family asks that donations be made in Bill‘s honor to the American Heart Association.
