He had a successful career before becoming self-employed as an advisor to Sunsource International. He retired in 1997. An avid historian, he devoted his time serving as President of the Veterans Club in Sun City Anthem, Nev. He returned often to Carthage to renew acquaintances and his commitment to his hometown. He was a major financial benefactor of the only original straw bale-built museum in the U.S., located in Carthage, which still bears the Campbell name.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Leslie (Matt) of Liberty Township, Ohio, and Billy (Ester) of Dallas, Texas; grandsons, Gunnar and Blake Lykins; and sister, Colleen (John) Wiebe of Mesa, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
