City financial director Paullyn Carey presented the renewal of three medical cannabis dispensary licenses in the city. She explained that all inspections have been done and no issues were found. The commission approved the renewal for Humphrey’s THC LLC, Dakota Herb LLC, and Genesis Farms LLC.

Commissioners also:

• Approved hire of Michael Tisland as part-time seasonal airport operations maintenance technician at the Huron Regional Airport.
• Set Jan. 8 as the public hearing date to consider a retail on-off sale malt beverage and South Dakota farm wine license application for 21st Street Casino, 853 21st St. SW.

The solid waste holiday schedule was reiterated, with the rubble site closed on Dec. 23-25 and Dec. 30-Jan. 1. The Monday garbage and recycling pickups for Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 will be moved to Wed., Dec. 27 and Wed., Jan. 3.

City offices will be closed on December 25 for Christmas.

The commission ended the meeting with a work session year-end review from the city engineering department on projects contracted and completed during the 2023 calendar year. The commission then moved to executive session for a personnel and a contractual matter.
