County sets minimums for land sale

Posted

HURON — The Beadle County Commission set minimum bid prices on four land parcels during Tuesday morning’s meeting.

The four pieces of land will be auctioned at the county courthouse on Jan. 30 due to unpaid taxes.

The meeting opened with highway superintendent Jason Fritzsche meeting with the commission. Fritzsche presented a structure to be removed from the national bridge inventory after it was changed from a bridge to multiple culverts, which makes it ineligible for federal bridge programs.

A street agreement with Wessington was approved, as was a joint powers agreement with the Department of Transportation for an upcoming bridge replacement.

Bid opening for culverts was set for Jan. 9, at 9:30 a.m.

Two payments were reported and resolutions were approved for supplemental budget income. A supplemental budget hearing was set for Dec. 26.

The commission also approved two land plats, the first a part of a land exchange with Game, Fish, & Parks for land near Lake Byron. The second was for replatting of land in Bonilla township as part of estate planning.

The next county commission meeting will be held Tuesday, Dec. 26, at 9 a.m. in the commission room on the second floor of the county courthouse.
