Facemask requirements reinstated for staff at HRMC

Posted

HURON — Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is implementing masking for staff on a temporary basis, according to Destiny Finn, VP-Quality and Risk Management.

“Effective Friday, December 29, we instated required masking for staff, providers, contractors and vendors in accordance with our policy,” explained Finn.

Per the policy, facemasks are required for staff, providers, contractors and vendors when 10 or more staff working in our facility are off-work on required leave due to a respiratory viral illness or five or more patients are hospitalized with respiratory viral illness. The policy further requires staff, providers, contractors and vendors to remain masked until the respiratory viral illness numbers have fallen below the threshold and maintained below the threshold for seven days.

Facemasks will be available at all HRMC entrances for patients and visitors who desire to mask, however, patient and visitor masking is not required. “Our goal is to preserve the health and wellbeing of those we serve as well as our staff who provide necessary health services to our community,” explained Finn.

Finn says County infection rates will also be monitored with reinstatement of the facemask requirement if necessary. Visitors may call the hospital at 605-353-6200 with questions or visit online at www.huronregional.org/COVID-19-information for the latest guidelines.
