HURON — An investigation into the disappearance of a Woonsocket woman in 2013 intensified Wednesday, on the banks of the James River north and east of Huron.
Late Wednesday afternoon, the Sanborn County Sheriff told Dakota News Now that the search north of Huron is related to the 2013 disappearance of Rachel Cyriaks of Woonsocket.
In early November, S.D. Attorney General Marty Jackley issued a press release as the 10 year mark of Cyriaks’ disappearance drew closer, asking for anyone with information to come forward.
As promised, investigators are following up on every tip and lead.
Crews are using boats, as they search along the banks of the James River. There’s a temporary shelter on the shore.
The search area is adjacent to where a truck belonging to Cyriaks was found in December of 2013.
Authorities searched the same area several years ago, but didn’t find what they were looking for.
