HURON — Jane DeLong, age 98, of Huron, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in Huron surrounded by her family.
Her funeral service is 1 p.m., Saturday, April 13, at American Lutheran Church in Huron, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 12, at Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service on Saturday afternoon.
Jane Etta DeLong was born on May 5, 1925 to Fred and Myrtle (Bond) Knouse on a farm in Iroquois. She grew up in the Carpenter and Iroquois areas, before moving to Huron in 1942. She married Ralph DeLong in 1943.
Jane worked for Armour and Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1978 and continued working with Foster Care, the Adjustment Training Center, and as a caretaker for elderly and disabled.
Jane is survived by her son, Richard (Jacki) DeLong of Huron; her grandchildren, Annette (Rick) Waldner and Don (Cheri) DeLong; her great-grandchildren, Allyson (Tyler) Anthony, Courtney (Jose) Jimenez, and Stephanie (Cole) Colburn; and her two great-great grandchildren, Iyla and baby Colburn.
She is preceded by her parents; her husband, Ralph; two sons, Ralph Eugene and Thomas David; a great-granddaughter, May Baby; and her brothers and sisters.
