Top-seeded Chargers survive to play for Class A title.

The top seeded Sioux Falls Christian Chargers improved to 25-0 and will play in their second straight Class “A” State boys’ basketball tournament championship game, after outlasting the Dakota Valley Panthers 50-48 in a semifinal game Friday evening.
The game was a rematch of the 2023 championship game, which Dakota Valley won.
Griffin Goodbary scored 20 points and had nine rebounds to lead the Chargers, while Cole Snyder added 14 points for SFC. Cooper Goodbary had four assists in the contest.
Jaxson Wingert scored 20 points, and had eight rebounds for Dakota Valley, which falls to 21-4 on the season, while Logan Collette added 13 and Luke Bruns chipped in 10.
Sioux Falls Christian will face Hamlin, which led late during a semi-final matchup with Rapid City Christian, at 7:45 p.m. MT today. Dakota Valley and Rapid City Christian will play for third place at 6 p.m. MT today.

Pine Ridge 79, Vermillion 63
The Pine Ridge Thorpes outscored the Vermillion Tanagers in every quarter Friday afternoon, to take a 79-63 win in the first consolation semifinal game at the Class “A” State boys’ basketball tournament on Summit Court at The Monument.

Jaylin Rouillard led the Thorpes with 26 points, but it was Marvin Richard who stuffed the stat sheet for Pine Ridge, scoring 19 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and handing out seven assists in the contest. Anthony Steele added 13 points as Pine Ridge will take a record of 22-2 into the fifth place game this afternoon against Sioux Valley.
Trey Hansen scored 20 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had four assists to lead the Tanagers, who fall to 16-9. Both Bryson Skogsberg and Carter Hansen added 11 points. Vermillion will play Groton Area for seventh place at noon today.

Alec Squires scored 31 points and hauled down 12 rebounds Friday afternoon, powering the Sioux Valley Cossacks to a 67-58 win over the Groton Area Tigers and into the consolation finals today at the Class “A” State boys’ basketball tournament.
Maxwell Engebretson added 13 points for the Cossacks, who will take a 21-3 mark into the fifth-place contest against Pine Ridge.
Ryder Johnson scored 19 points and had seven rebounds to lead the Tigers, who fall to 19-5 with the loss. Keegan Tracy added 17 points and Lane Tietz scored 11 points and had four assists.

Groton Area will face Vermillion for seventh place today at the “A.”
