WESSINGTON SPRINGS — With the top three golfers in the field, Wessington Springs claimed the boys’ title during the Wessington Springs Invite on Thursday.
The Spartans finished at 215 to win the 7-team event, while Mt. Vernon/Plankinton was second at 239 and Ethan was third at 240. Rounding out the top five were Sanborn Central/Woonsocket at 258 and Doland at 264.
Blake Larson carded a low round of 69 to win the medalist honors for Wessington Springs. JD Thompson and Hayns Bothama were second and third, respectively, for the Spartans with scores of 73.
Blake Miller also had 73 to finish fourth overall for Wessington Springs, while teammate Luke Larson was fifth at 71.
Briggs LaBrie had a 76 to lead Doland, while Brock Krueger followed with a 77 for Wessington Springs and Jonah Niederbaumer had an 81 for James Valley Christian.
Mt. Vernon/Plankinton finished at 297 to win the girls’ team title, while Sanborn Central/Woonsocket was second at 314 and Ethan was third at 325.
Abby Davis of Mt. Vernon/Plankinton claimed the medalist honrs with an 89.
Belle Niederbaumer of JVC was second at 92, while Belle Guthrie of Ethan was third with a 94.
Rounding out the top five were Olivia Knox of Doland and Vanessa Hoffman of Mt. Vernon/Plankinton with scores of 95 and 98, respectively. Addison Bartholow of James Valley Christian was sixth with a 98.
