FAULKTON — Orvil Melius, 93, of Faulkton, passed away Monday, February 13, 2017, at the Faulkton Senior Living Center.
Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m., Monday, February 20, at Luce Funeral Home in Faulkton. Reception will follow the funeral at the United Church of Faulkton. Private burial will be in the Faulkton Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday with a 7 p.m. prayer service all at the funeral home.
Orvil Melius was born August 21, 1923, to William Otto and Julia (Arendsee) Melius. He graduated from Faulkton High School in 1941.
He joined the Occupational Army after WWII. He was united in marriage to Irene C. Haselhorst September 14, 1949. They farmed west of Wecota until September of 2004. He served on the Faulkton School Board and the Saratoga Township Board.
He is survived by his children, Marilee (Ray) Patton of Tulsa, Okla., Susan Melius of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Diane (Lee) Hansen of Faulkton; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Joetta Swanhorst of Aberdeen.
He is preceded in death by his wife; siblings, Richard, Royal, Lloyd, Delos, Hilton, Marvin, Claire, LaVern, Olive, Vivian, Marcelle, Joyce, Audrey, and LaVilla; and grandchild, Cody Hansen.
