HIGHMORE — Ellen Wheelhouse, 87, of Highmore, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017, at the Highmore Health in Highmore.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, February 17, at the United Methodist Church in Highmore. Burial will follow in the Highmore Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. followed by a 6 p.m. prayer service Thursday, at the church.
Ellen “Toots” Louise Fawcett Wheelhouse was born August 23, 1929, at Miller to George and Johanna (Hasart) Fawcett. She grew up Peno Township in Hyde County and graduated from Miller High in 1947.
She was united in marriage to George Wheelhouse September 26, 1948. They farmed until moving to Miller in 1987. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Highmore United Methodist Women and many other organizations.
She is survived by her children, DeWayne (Ev) Wheelhouse, Loren (Edith) Wheelhouse, Mark (Betty) Wheelhouse, Linn Wheelhouse, Lennice (Curt Miller) Peterson; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Bernadine (Mark) Johnson; brother, Robert Fawcett; sister-in-law, Susan Finley; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Diane Wheelhouse; her sister Thelma (Frank) Novotny, and nephew, Steve Novotny.
