Judith E. Strough

WESSINGTON SPRINGS Judith E. Strough, age 63, of Wessington Springs, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Avera Weskota Hospital in Wessington Springs.

Her memorial service is 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Wolsey. Visitation is held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday afternoon.

Judith Elaine Howard was born March 17, 1960, to parents Harley Junior and Harriett Elaine (Sunderman) Howard in Clarinda, Iowa. Judy grew up in northwest Missouri, attending West Nodaway High School.
Judy had many careers throughout her life including seamstress, dog groomer, and chicken farmer. Her most important job of all was that of mom. She loved raising her children and farm animals and everything that came with being a farmwife. She loved to garden and can her vegetables and produce. She enjoyed restoring furniture and other crafty adventures. She liked to fish and camp with family. Spending time with her grandchildren was also very important to her.

Judy married Danie Strough in Burlington Junction, Missouri in 2002. That same year, Judy and Danie moved to South Dakota. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Wolsey.

She is survived by her husband, Danie of Wessington Springs; her children, Corey (Kellee) Dawson of Burlington Junction, Mo., and their children Hunter and Haylee Dawson, Chad (Jacki) Dawson of St. Lawrence, and their children Harlee, Brylee, Kaylee and Shaylee Dawson, Lenai (Ethan) Heckenlaible of Ft. Pierre and their children, Addysen, Hayden and Landen Heckenlaible, Dustin (Hilary) Hunt of Wolsey and their daughter Raelynn Hunt, Codie (Triston) Fox of Elmo, MO, Carrie Strough of Redfield and her daughter Clarie Grant, and Rickie (Anthony) Lowe of Clarinda, Iowa, and their children Braxton and Patricia Lowe; two brothers, Randy Howard of Ozark, Mo., and Ronnie Howard of Clearmont, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Curtis Dawson, and two sisters-in-law, Brenda Howard and Melissa Howard.
