Unclaimed Property division to hold remote office at Huron Public Library on Wednesday

PIERRE The South Dakota Division of Unclaimed Property is holding remote office hours at the Huron Public Library, 521 Dakota Ave. S., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Treasurer Josh Haeder states, There are currently 10,435 properties that can be claimed from Beadle County with a total dollar amount exceeding $1 million. During this holiday season, I would encourage folks from Beadle County and the surrounding area to stop by and visit with our team to see if we can help get that money back to its rightful owners or visit cash.sd.gov to see if your name is on the list.

During remote office hours, office staff will be on hand to answer questions about unclaimed property and to assist in the process of searching and filing a claim.

Unclaimed property consists of abandoned financial assets such as checking and savings accounts, unpaid wages, securities, life insurance payouts, uncashed checks, and the proceeds of safe deposit boxes that are without activity. It does not include real estate or vehicles.

To check to see if your name is on the list, go to www.cash.sd.gov.
