Iroquois/Lake Preston 63, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 34
IROQUOIS The Iroquois/Lake Preston Sharks used a big second quarter to open up a 36-17 halftime lead en route to a 63-34 opening game victory over the Oldham-Ramona/Rutland Raiders Thursday in Iroquois.

Adison Moore bucketed 26 points and nabbed eight steals to lead the Sharks to 1-0. Hadlee Holt added 15 points and led the team with 11 rebounds.

The Raiders (0-2) were led by Julia Trygstad and Emily Matson with 12 points apiece.

The Sharks travel to Arlington Monday.

Faulkton 43, Wessington Springs 37
FAULKTON Free throw disparity in the second quarter ended up making the difference in a 43-37 loss for the Wessington Springs Lady Spartans on the road at the Faulkton Area Trojans Thursday.

The Lady Spartans held a 10-8 lead after the first quarter, but strong free throw shooting by the Trojans, who finished 13 of 14 in the first half, keyed a 17-5 second quarter, and the Trojans never looked back.

Carley Cotton led the Trojans (1-0) with 16 points. Addison Melius added seven points and led Faulkton with 10 rebounds.

The Lady Spartans fell to 1-1 despite 14 points and 12 rebounds from Avery Orth. Kerstynn Heim added 13 points.

Wessington Springs will travel to Howard on Saturday, December 16.

GROTON – After trailing at each of the first three quarter breaks, the James Valley Christian Lady Vikings rallied to force overtime, but fell by one point, 54-53, in overtime to the Groton Area Tigers Tuesday night in Groton.

The Tigers move to 1-0 behind 15 points and 10 rebounds from Rylee Dunker. Kennedy Hansen added 10 points.

JVC fell to 0-1 despite a game-high 20 points from Alexa Goertz. Kaylie Robinson added 13 points and nine rebounds and Addison Bartholo had 11.

The Lady Vikings will host Highmore-Harrold Tuesday.
