I have an idea for this holiday season and I would like as many of you who are willing to play along.
Will you do that?
Our publishing schedule over the holidays will alter the paper slightly – there wont be a Plainsman in your mailbox on either Christmas Day or New Years Day.
Which is really not a huge thing – you wont have any other mail on those days either.
Okay, back to my idea.
What am asking you to share are some memories.
First, what is your favorite Christmas gift? Perhaps it was something you gave instead of received? How old were you? What made it special?
Second, do you have a most memorable gift, that is different from your favorite?
For instance, my favorite gift may still be the Jeep, horsetrailer and two plastic horses that I received when I was a but a wee lad. I played with that until the wheels fell off, literally.
But my most memorable gift was when I was in high school. I evidently had a problem with picking my socks up off the floor and getting them in the laundry basket.
So Mom wrapped em up and I opened them in front of grandparents and other family.
Then, to drive home her point, she wrapped them again, hauled them to my aunt and uncles home in Idaho and I unwrapped them again in front of a whole new group of folks.
I do now get all my clothes picked up. Message received Mom.
Third (and fourth) what is your favorite Christmas song or carol? And what is your favorite Christmas program or special? Maybe something from when you were younger?
If you are willing to share your memories, email them to me here at the paper.
My email is [email protected].
Please include your name and phone number, in case I have a question.
Unless you leave me written permission in the email, I will not publish your name and I wont print anyones phone number for any reason.
We will plan to publish everyones memories in the Tuesday, Dec. 26 edition of the paper.
So, if you want to play along, get me your memories before Thursday, Dec. 21.
