HURON Eight individuals in the Huron area will be sleeping more comfortably tonight, thanks to a program that has been providing miracles for more than 30 years.
Slumberland Furniture of Huron spearheads the effort, called Homes for the Holidays, in partnership with several other local groups and organizations.
This the 18th year that Slumberland of Huron has donated mattresses and bed frames.
This year, we will donate eight complete mattress sets, said Slumberland owner Rich Bragg. We have brand new twin or full-size mattresses.
Since its inception in Huron, Slumberland has donated more than $100,000 in bedding and accessories.
In addition to the donation by Slumberland, volunteers from Mount Calvary Lutheran Church donated quilts and bedding, while American Lutheran Church donated pillows.
As in years past, Slumberland partners with the United Way – Heartland Region to assist in finding individuals in need. This year, agencies receiving beds include Community Counseling, the Department of Social Services and Beadle County Drug Court.
