Wolsey-Wessington 69, Hitchcock-Tulare 31
HITCHCOCK The Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds jumped out to a 30-point lead at half and cruised to a 69-31 victory over the Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots Thursday at Hitchcock in 281 Conference regular season action.

The Warbirds move to 15-4 with the win while the Patriots fall to 7-11.

Tate French led the Warbirds with 21 points. Moshe Richmond added 19 for W-W.

Erik Salmen was the high point man for the Patriots with eight points.

Both teams will be in action Saturday at the Warner Classic. The Warbirds will face Lower Brule and Hitchcock-Tulare will play Waverly-South Shore.

CLARK The Hamlin Chargers trailed after one quarter, but a 13-5 second quarter gave them the lead that theyd never surrender the rest of the game, defeating the Clark/Willow Lake Cyclones 52-38 in Clark Thursday.
Hamlin, ranked second in Class A in the most recent boys basketball polls, moves to 17-3 while the Cyclones fall to 9-10.

Evan Stormo led the Chargers with 14 points and Tyson Stevenson had 12 points. Easton Neuendorf grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for Hamlin.

The Cyclones were led by eighth grader Sullivan Felberg off the bench with 14 points and nine rebounds. Emmerson Larson scored a dozen and also grabbed nine rebounds for C/WL.

The Cyclones host Arlington Feb. 23 in Clark to close the regular season.

KIMBALL Using a strong defensive effort in the second half, No. 4-ranked Wessington Springs pulled away for a 54-28 victory against Kimball/White Lake on Tuesday.

The WildKats managed just seven points in the second half after trailing 26-21 at the break.

Parker Graff and Colby Flowers each had 14 points to lead the Spartans, who improved to 17-1. Ryder Michalek also reached double figures with 11 points, while Brock Krueger had nine points.

Flowers also had a team-high 11 rebounds for Wessington Springs, while Blake Larson and Michalek each had five assists.

Blake Leiferman led Kimball/White Lake, which is now 4-14, with 10 points.

The Spartans play at James Valley Christian today.

HITCHCOCK The Hitchcock-Tulare Lady Patriots trailed at every break but the most important one, using a 22-point outburst in the final period to defeat the Wolsey-Wessington Lady Warbirds 52-49 in the regular season finale for both clubs Thursday in Hitchcock.

Both teams finish the regular schedule with 7-13 records.

Katelyn Schroeder led the Lady Patriots with 18 points, including her 1,000th career point. Gracyn Bixler added in 12, including eight in the final period, for H-T.

The Lady Warbirds only had four players score, but three finished in double figures, led by Payton Kemnitz with 21.

Shae Uttecht added 16 points and sister Lainey Uttecht netted 11 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

Both teams will begin region play on Tuesday.

WOONSOCKET Using an 11-2 run in the second quarter, James Valley Christian claimed a 54-41 victory in a 281 Conference matchup against Sanborn Central/Woonsocket on Tuesday.

Kaylie Robinson had 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Lady Vikings, who improved to 13-5. Alexa Goertz had 15 points and four steals, while Daril Frandsen had seven points.

Kali Hofer led Sanborn Central/Woonsocket will 16 points. Kam Oschner and Kenna Oschner had eight and seven points, respectively.

Kara Wormstadt grabbed six rebounds for the Lady Blackhawks, while Kam Oschner had three assists and three steals. Liz Boschee also had three steals.

JVC hosts Wessington Springs today.
