The teams are set for next weeks Class A and B boys state basketball tournaments.
At the B in Aberdeens Barnett Center, top seeded White River (21-2) will take on No. 8 Viborg-Hurley, 18-5, which upset Faith to earn a trip to the tournament in the opener at noon. The second game of the afternoon will find fourth seeded Wessington Springs, 22-1, seeking to avenge its only loss of the season, against No. 5 Howard, who is 20-3.
The evening session finds the second seeded and three-time defending state champion De Smet Bulldogs (20-3) taking on No. 7 seeded Gregory, at 19-4, and the opening round concludes with No. 3 Castlewood, 20-3, taking on sixth-seeded Leola/Frederick, who is 22-1.
Including the Bulldogs, four teams from last year are back in the B this time around.
In the A tournament, set for Summit Arena at The Monument in Rapid City, top seeded Sioux Falls Christian, the only undefeated boys team in the state at 23-0, will take on Vermillion, 16-7, in the opener at 1 p.m. CDT. The second game finds No. 4 Pine Ridge, 21-1, facing fifth-seeded and defending champion Dakota Valley, 20-3.
In the evening session, the second-seeded Hamlin Chargers, who finished third at last years tournament and carry a 20-3 record into this years tournament, will face No. 7 Groton Area, 19-4.
And the nightcap will find No. 3 Sioux Valley, at 21-2, taking on sixth-seeded Rapid City Christian, who is 20-3.
Three of the top four teams from last year are back in this years Class A State Tournament.
