JVC girls set school record at Howard Wood Dakota Relays

SIOUX FALLS The James Valley Christian girls 3,200-meter relay team, which consists of Daril Frandsen, Jacey Wipf, Dasah Olson and Andee Frandsen, established a new school record during the opening day of the Howard Wood Dakota Relays on Friday.

The Lady Vikings turned in a time of 9:57.97 to finish second behind Deubrook Area, which established a new season-best time for Class B girls with a a 9:54.27. JVC, which eclipsed the 10:00 mark for the first time in school history, now holds the second best time of the season.

Wessington Springs was fifth in the Class B boys 3,200 relay at 8:38.90.

Jeffery Boschee of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket tied for fith in the high jump with a height of 6-4.

Adison Moore of Iroquois/Lake Preston was 15th in the Class B 100 semifinals at 12.72 seconds.

Avery Orth of Wessington Springs was 12th in the girls shot put at 38-0.75, while Hadlee Holt of Iroquois/Lake Preston was 17th at 36-2 and Maggie Decker of JVC was 22nd at 35-3.

Hazel Luethmers of De Smet was 28th in the high jump at 4-11.

Tyson Pfitzer turned in the top finish for Huron, with a throw of 149-1 to finish 18th in the javelin, while Kolby Hofer was 28th at 139-1.

Hylton Heinz was 22nd for the Tigers in the javelin at 105-6, while Hamtyn Heinz was 22nd at 105-6.

Bryan Ramirez was 10th for Huron in the shot put at 49-7, while Lizzy Heinen tied for 22nd for theTigers in the girls high jump at 4-11.

The final day of the event will be held today.
