Huron High School presents athletic awards

HURON Hamtyn Heinz was selected as Female Athlete of the Year and CJ Gainey was named the Male Athlete of the Year Thursday evening, as the Huron High School athletic department held its annual award banquet at Huron Arena.

Heinz, who will play basketball at Dakota State University in Madison, was also named the as the Sandi Schaffer Memorial Award winner, while earning MVP awards in both volleyball and girls basketball for the season.

Gainey capped a senior season that saw him named most improved for the HHS football team.

He has signed to play football at Northern State University this fall.
