Letter – Greenfield 5-17-24

To the Editor:

The James Valley Shrine Club has provided orthopedic healthcare to adolescents since it was established in 1922.

Our closest hospital is in Minneapolis and the burn hospital is in Cincinnati.

The patients transportation is paid by our Shrine Club, or than may drive there and we will cover their expenses, including room and meals.

We provide this treatment for patients age 0 through 18, or if they are in treatment, to age 21. At the latest information, the cost of operating our system of 22 hospitals was $1.5 million per day, and with inflation, Im sure this will increase.

For a fundraiser locally, the James River Shrine Club hosts the circus to fund these services.

Many times each year, I meet former or current patients, who have benefitted from treatments at a Shriner hospital.

The Shrine Club is requesting, through sponsorships of various organizations, donations to continue providing these vital and rewarding treatments.

No man has ever stooped so low as to raise up a youth in need, of these life-changing services. We thank you for your community support.
