RAPID CITY Charleigh Brewer won the Girls All-Around title during the South Dakota State Junior High Rodeo, which was held May 17-19 in Rapid City.
Brewer, who was the only participant from Huron Middle School, took first place in goat tying and breakaway roping on Friday.She finished second in goat tying, third in barrel racing and fourth in pole bending on Saturday to qualify for the short go (top 15) in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, breakaway roping and ribbon roping.
In the short go, Brewer took first in pole bending and fifth in barrel racing. She had the fast goat tying time in the finals for the second year in a row.
Brewer qualified for the National Junior High Finals Rodeo, which will be held in Des Moines, Iowa, at the end of June in the barrels, where she was fourth in the average, and goat tying, where she was the reserve champion.
