Iroquois designated as ‘Cardiac Ready Community’ by S.D. Dept. of Health

IROQUOIS The community of Iroquois was recently designated a Cardiac Ready Community by the South Dakota Department of Health.

The designation was made May 20,presented by Stephanie Hanson, RN Program Coordinator and Brianne Holbeck, MSN/RN Heart Disease and Stroke Program Coordinator.

Iroquois is only the fifth community in South Dakota to receive this designation.

The Communitys Cardiac Readiness Team, including Jim Lynch with Iroquois Fire and Rescue and Daphne Moeller, HOSA Advisor along with HOSA members at Iroquois School, coordinated and completed the process needed to achieve Cardiac Ready Community status.

According to the Department of Health, a Cardiac Ready Community Program helps educate, equip, and empower local community members to e better prepared and more confident in helping someone experiencing a cardiac event prior to the ambulance arriving.
