HURON A multi-million dollar construction project is underway in Huron.
No, not the Dakota Avenue reconstruction project.
The project in question is the redesign of 4th Street Southeast, beginning at Sherman Ave.
The road will be re-routed to travel more directly up the hill to the future site of the Solid Waste Transfer Station, which is now being constructed.
This will eventually lead to closure of the current road during construction, but for much of the construction timeline, the current road will be accessible for those bringing yard waste to the drop site.
The drop off site is also accessible from the east side, off Custer Avenue.
The project has a total budget of more than $2 million and will allow for more safe travel for individuals and especially for city garbage/recycling/yard waste trucks once the new transfer station is complete.
