To the Editor:
I wish to express my thanks to the Huron Police Department and the schools in Huron, for keeping our kids safe during the events on May 9.
I didnt understand at first why the kids were kept at school, if the shooting didnt take place there. However, I came to realize the kids were out of the say and safe.
I was so thankful my grandson was at liberty to text me and assure me he was safe. This incident brought new appreciation for what the parents and grandparents must have been going through in the other school shootings in this country.
This was not a school shooting, but the lockdown which resulted was a reminder of them.
My heart goes out to the families that suffered great loss during this day. May God provide peace and comfort.
