Roehrich wins Class B title for Clark/Willow Lake

BROOKINGS After coming up just short of winning a championship in 2023, Brynn Roehrich of Clark/Willow Lake got the job done in 2024.

After trailing by three strokes entering the final 18 holes of play, Roehrich rallied to win the title by six strokes during the Class B State Girls Golf Tournament on Tuesday at Edgebrook Golf Course.

Roehrich was able to shave six strokes from her first round score with a 73 on Tuesday to finish the tourney at 152.

Jayce Pugh of Miller, who was second after the opening round with a 77, carded an 81 on Tuesday to secure sole possession of the second spot with a 158.

Jadyn McDonald of Chester, who led after the opening round with a 76, shot an 83 Tuesday to finish third, a stroke behind Pugh with a 59.

Taryn Hettick of Selby Area was fourth at 72, while Annika Kriz of Deuel, Olivia Olson of Sully Buttes, Maddy Lauck of McCook Central/Montrose and Olivia Mikkelsen of Potter County shared the fifth spot with scores of 173.

Kaihlyn Anderberg of Miller was the only other area golfer to earn all-state honors. She shot 90 on Tuesday to finish at 175, which put her 10th in the final standings.

Olivia Knox of Doland shared the 37th spot with a 192, while Sydney Asmuss of Miller shared spot No. 42 with a 194. Belle Niederbaumer of James Valley Christian and Brooke Jennings of De Smet each had scores of 195 to claim a share of the 44th spot.

Clark/Willow Lake teammates Mallory Nelson and Jalen Hohm finished at 196 and 197, respectively, to snag shares of spots No. 48 and 50.

Other area golfers in the tournament were Bailey Brueggeman of Miller at 211 (tied for 70th); Harper Anderson of De Smet at 213 (tied for 72nd); Kendall Cermak of Highmore-Harrold at 218 (tied for 80th); and Peyton Lee of Clark/Willow Lake at 223 (tied for 86th).
Chester successfully defending its Class B title. Miller was second 13 strokes behind the champion, while Clark/Willow Lake was 18 strokes back in third.
Rounding out the top five in the 15-team field were Estelline/Hendricks and Jones County.
