Pediatrician, surgical podiatrist join HRMC staff

HURON Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) announced this week that a pair of physicians have joined the staff of the hospital and the HRMC Physicians Clinic.

HRMC president and CEO Erick Larson welcomed Jordan Finck, DPM, podiatric surgeon; and Sean Schooley, MD, pediatrician, joined the Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Medical Staff and HRMC Physicians Clinic care team on Monday, July 22.

Dr. Schooley is going to be an excellent addition, Larson stated. Bringing his expertise in pediatrics to Huron, hell join family medicine physicians, Dr. Nathan Loewen at New Life Clinic and Drs. Vincent Oyler and Jessica Ormsmith at the HRMC Physicians Clinic in offering medical care for children in clinic and in the hospital. Larson continued,

He will also collaborate with and support HRMC Physicians Clinic advanced practice providers who care for children: Kristin VanBuskirk, CNP, Stephenie Vanden Berge, CNP, Rebekah Storm, DNP, and Leonard Wonnenberg, PA.

Schooley will provide comprehensive care for children of all ages, focusing on nutrition, growth and development. He will offer primary care in addition to diagnosis and treatment of complex chronic and acute conditions.

Dr. Finck joins us as HRMCs first full-time podiatric surgeon, allowing us the opportunity to expand access to podiatry services in Huron, said Larson. He continued, Podiatrists play a crucial role in managing conditions that can impact mobility, stability and overall quality of life. Local availability of foot and ankle surgery is yet another way we can support our community and were thrilled to partner with Dr. Finck to do just that.

Finck specializes in injuries and pain of the foot and ankle, arthritis, deformities, nerve problems, diabetic wounds and infections, bunions, ingrown toenails and more. He will care for patients at the HRMC Physicians Clinic, follow inpatients requiring podiatric care, and perform emergency care and surgeries at HRMC. Dr. Finck will work closely with the HRMC wound care team to manage patients with foot and ankle wounds.

He earned his doctor of podiatric medicine at the Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa and completed his podiatric residency at Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Fincks interest in podiatry, spurred by an affinity for architecture and engineering mixed with the desire to work with people, led him from his undergraduate training at South Dakota State University in Brookings to podiatric medicine training. I have always been really interested in building things, architecture, and understanding how things work, but I also have the desire to help people, so with podiatry, I get the best of both.

Originally from Madison, Finck has moved to Huron and is happy to be back in the state and closer to family. In his free time, Dr. Finck enjoys golf, fitness and hunting.

Schooley completed his residency at the Childrens Hospital of the Kings Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia. He earned his medical degree at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora.

Dr. Schooley recently moved to Huron with his wife, Colleen and three-year-old son, Axel. After spending his youth in Alaska and more recent years in urban areas, Dr. Schooley is looking forward to enjoying rural life in South Dakota. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, fishing, hunting and camping and nature in general.
