SALEM The Lake Norden/Badger Post 260 baseball team worked their way back through the consolation bracket to force a rematch with the team that defeated them in the first round of the State B Legion baseball tournament in Salem, the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies.
Unfortunately for Post 260, the Huskies came out on top of a high-scoring affair, 16-11, to end the season for Lake Norden/Badger.
EPJ jumped out early, scoring in all four innings to open the game to take an 8-0 lead. Post 260 would answer with eight runs to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth. After a scoreless fifth for both teams, the Huskies tallied six runs in the top of the sixth and another two in the seventh and the Post 260 offense simply couldnt keep up.
Dawson Noem led Lake Norden/Badger on the mound, giving up 10 runs over 3 2/3 innings on seven hits, two walks, and four hit batsmen. He struck out six. A trio of relievers closed out the game for Post 260.
George Jensen had a big game on offense, hitting a home run, double, and a single to drive in four of the Post 260 runs. Lane Tvedt added a pair of doubles and a single.
Noem and Tyson Stevenson each had a pair of singles and a walk. Noem was also hit by pitch. Rylan Thue had two singles.
The Huskies move on to the championship game Tuesday night.
