Letter – Folk 8-17-24

To the Editor:

There are still three Dakota Energy Board of Directors who voted to break the cooperative from Basin Electric/East River and sue 17 members. These three positions are up for election at the annual meeting on August 22. The Beadle district seat now is held by Chase Binger. The Ree district seats are now held by Todd Bushong and Chad Dearborn.

These people were on the board of directors when Dakota Energy lawyers interrogated two member/owners, subpoenaed five member/owners plus one non-member, and filed discoveries and lawsuits against 17 member/owners, requesting copies of everything from telephone calls to bank statements. Dakota Energy legal maneuvers cost the 17 members and Dakota Energy thousands of dollars and Basin Electric/East River millions of dollars.

Lately there have been Letters to the Editor in the Miller and Huron papers. Some have been written by recently-voted-off-board members and a former finance officer who represented Dakota Energy at the hearing in Watertown in the case of Dakota Energy vs. the 17 members.

Who filed and financed the court case referenced in their letters against Basin Electric? Can you imagine what it is like to have frivolous lawsuits filed against you and the cost involved?

In the Town Hall meeting held at the Womens Building a couple years ago, DE Manager Felderman indicated there would be no load growth for Dakota Energy. What are the future electrical needs and problems that will be caused by the climate change believers?

To meet future power requirements, we need all types of power generation solar, wind, hydro, coal, gas, nuclear. Limiting any one of these will harm consumers, suppliers, and country.

Please attend the annual meeting on August 22, ask questions, and vote. Unfortunately, you vote before you can ask questions.
