Raiders sweep Huron in soccer matchups

HURON The Rapid City Stevens Raiders soccer teams swept four games between varsity and junior varsity action from the Huron Tigers soccer teams on Saturday at Tiger Stadium.

Boys
The Raiders jumped out with a pair of goals in the first 13 minutes and then played tough defense to secure a 2-0 victory over the Tigers in the boys varsity game.

Huron coach Leah Branaugh was proud of the effort in the loss.

Great all around effort this afternoon from the team, she said.
The boys did an excellent job moving the ball and working together as a team.

She continued, The boys keep improving each game out and look to carry that forward as the season goes on.

Micah Larson had seven saves in goal for Huron.

In the JV game, Huron got a goal from Tobias Soto Ramos, but fell 7-1 to Stevens. Jaxon Andru had five saves in goal.

Huron will take a 1-2 record into a home game Tuesday against Sioux Falls Christian.

Girls
The Raiders girls soccer team was aggressive in the first half and opened a big lead, earning a 13-0 victory Saturday at Tiger Stadium.

Baw Law Eh stopped 11 shots in the first half for Huron and Naw Soe had two saves in the second half.

Stevens scored a shutout in the JV game, winning 10-0. Cadence Kogel saved four shots in the first half and Soe topped three in the second half.

The Tiger girls (0-3) will travel to Garretson on Tuesday.
