PIERRE Taking advantage of its home golf course, Pierre used a 273 to edge Watertown by three strokes and claim the title during the Pierre Invitational on Tuesday at Hillsview Golf Club.
Brandon Valley was third in the 14-team event with a 291, followed by Yankton at 300 and Mitchell at 306.
Huron had two golfers in the event, thus it wasnt able to qualify for a team score.
Pierre had three of the top four golfers in the tournament. Sawyer Sonnenschein won the event for the Governors with a 64, while teammates Luke Olson and Nick Bothun were third and fourth, respectively, with scores of 68.
Kaden Rylance of Watertown was second at 85, while teammate Jonathan Lake rounded out the top five with a 69.
Jack Bales was the top golfer for Huron with a 96, while Riley Jankord finished at 112.
Next up for the Huron golfers will be the Huron Invitational, which is slated for 10 a.m. Thursday at Broadland Creek Golf Course.
