Three crowns at stake during Miss State Fair competition Saturday afternoon at SDSF

HURON A total of 16 young women will compete for three titles – Miss State Fair, Miss Huron and Miss State Fairs Outstanding Teen, at the Miss State Fair competition, set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, on the Farm Bureau/Dakotaland Stage. The three winners will qualify for the Miss S.D. Competition next year.

Lets meet the delegates for this years competition, including hometown if available, a Social Impact Statement and Talent.

Miss Delegates
Molly Crawford – Brookings,Filling Buckets to a Fulfilled Life; Poetry.
Adrian Gruis – Onida, Love is Safe; Vocal.
Kamell Kopp – Yankton, Blanketing Love: Warming Hearts in Nursing Homes, HERStory.
Jensine Madsen – Ramona, Speak Your Power: Childhood Trauma Awareness, HERStory.
Thea Tanton – Ripples of Change: A Lifeguards Call to Action, Speed Painting.
Jordan Wagner – Bridgeport, Neb., Agriyouth: The Next Generation of Agriculture, Monologue.

Teen Delegates
Megan Kogel – Bear Hugs, Sign Language.
Jerica Ratigan – ADHD Awareness in Women, Poetry.
Taya Ritterbush – Swim in Inclusion, Float in Diversity, Trumpet.
Isabella Weinkauf – Dance Dreams, Lyrical.

Passing on the titles that they won at last years Miss State Fair competion are Miss State Fair Emily Deinken, Miss Huron Julia Stanek, Miss State Fairs Outstanding Teen Modesty Heath and Miss Hurons Outstanding Teen Riley Schwinler.

All will be sharing their talents as part of this years production, which will award more than $1,700 in scholarships and other prizes to the winning delegates.

Also performing are Miss South Dakota, Joelle Simpson and Miss South Dakotas Outstanding Teen Briley Steffensen.

This years delegates will field questions and perform for panelists Kelly Kayser, Craig Katt, Brenda Gilbert, Linda Wagner, and Staci Aesoph.

Kayser is from Alexandria, is a former Miss State Fair and has been an entertainer for the Miss South Dakota Competition.

Katt is from the Atlanta area and has been involved with the Miss America Organization and is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with the band Ivory.

Gilbert is a Huron native and is a business loan officer with Dakotaland Federal Credit Union.

Wagner is also from Huron and is very active in 4-H rodeo and its Ambassador program

Aesoph is florist and rancher from Orient and is the mother of four boys.
