CLEAR LAKE Bolstered by five runners inside the top 20, the Clark/Willow Lake girls cross country team finished second at the Deuel Invite on Monday at Clear Lake Golf Course.
Sioux Valley finished with 28 points to claim the girls team title, followed by the Cyclones at 35. Rounding out the top five were Arlington at 42, Deuel at 42 and Redfield at 91.
Maci Licht of Sioux Valley won the girls varsity race in 19:30.47.
Kamryn Nesheim led the Clark/Willow Lake contingency with a time of 19:46.17 to finish second overall.
Jennifer Bevers was 11th for the Cyclones at 21:08, while Faith Roehrich was 16th at 21:34.62. Cadence Bochek and Emma Bochek finished in spots No. 19 and 20, respectively, with tiems of 21:48.96 and 21:59.27.
Deuel claimed the boys title with 24 points, while Great Plains Lutheran was second at 34. Rounding out the top five were Sioux Valley at 38, Arlington at 72 and Estelline/Hendricks at 101.
De Smet was sixth at 110 and Clark/Willow Lake was eighth at 134.
Carson Wosje of Sioux Valley turned in a winning time of 17:06.50 in the boys varsity race.
Payton Moore of Redfield cracked the top 15, finishing 14th at 19:17.68.
Chase Temme was 29th for De Smet at 20.19.80, while Will Hovde led Clark/Willow Lake with a time of 20:55.08 to finish 35th.
