YANKTON Yankton recorded a sweep against the Huron eighth-grade volleyball teams on Monday, but the seventh-grade teams won two of three matches.
8th Grade
The Gazelles used set scores of 25-18 and 25-21 to win the A-match.
Arian Pfitzer was 6 of 7 with two kills to lead the Tigers, while Jayla Schley was 5 of 6 with a pair of kills. Cora Wilk had a kill on 1 of 2 hitting, while Ramsey Rozell was 3 of 4 and Autumn Seidschlag was 1 of 2.
Schley recorded a pair of aces on 9 of 11 serving and had two blocks.
Nevaeh Garcia was 3 of 4 with an ace, while Talley Hins was 10 of 11 serving, Pfitzer was 4 of 5 and Rozell was perfect on three serves and had three assists.
Wilk, Seidschlag and Pfitzer each had a block.
Yankton won the B-match with set score os f22-25, 25-21 and 15-6.
Lainey Marshall was 8 of 8 hitting with six kills for the Tigers, while Andrea Estrada was perfect on five attacks with four kills.
Jesse Mattke converted on 11 of 12 serves with three aces for Huron, while Lana Sharry was 9 of 10 with three aces and Estrada was 5 of 7 with two aces.
The Gazelles had set wins of 35-17 and 25-20 in the C-match.
No statistics were available for Huron.
7th Grade
Hurons seventh grade A team dropped a tough decision to Yankton, 25-12 and 28-26.
Huron was led by Alyssa Urenas three aces, while Sofialin Lian had two aces. Arianna James had a kill for the Tigers.
Hurons B team dropped the first set 22-25, but roared back with wins of 25-10 and 16-14 to claim the match.
Wendy Hae, Bricia Miller and Tiana Parker each had three aces for Huron and Amari Greene added a pair of kills.
The C match followed the same script, as Huron came back from a first set loss (15-25) to post 25-23 and 16-14 wins.
Parker had three more aces, Greene had two aces as did Maddie McGaugh.
The teams travel to Aberdeen on Thursday.
