Voter registration event set at historic Pyle House

HURON The historic Pyle House Museum is excited to announce a special voter registration event, from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the museum, located at 378 Idaho Ave. SE.

This event celebrates the remarkable contributions of Mamie Shields Pyle, a key figure in the suffrage movement in South Dakota, and her daughter, Gladys Pyle, who made history as the first South Dakota woman elected to the state legislature and to a state office, and the first woman in the United States to be elected to the U.S. Senate. October is also Gladys Pyles birthday.

The final date to register, to be able to vote in the Nov. 5 general election is Oct. 21. Registration may also be accomplished at the county auditors office.
