HIGHMORE The Action Club Meet was held Saturday in Highmore, and the James Valley Christian boys and girls teams came away with team victories.
The JVC girls took the team title with 22 points, with a group of four teams bunched up close behind. Potter County and Miller each totaled 31 points to tie for second while Herreid/Selby Area placed fourth with 37 points and Stanley County finished fifth with 38 points.
Jennay Gisi of Ipswich won the individual medal in the girls race with a time of 20:25.54. The Lady Vikings took the next two spots, as Daril Frandsen and Andee Frandsen finished second and third, with times of 20:37.66 and 20:43.27.
Devyn Van Roekel of Pierre finished fourth with a time of 20:44.74 and Madeline Nye of Miller placed fifth at 20:54.49.
Autumn Fallis was the first Highmore-Harrold runner to cross the finish line, taking ninth place at 21:49.15.
Gabby Werdel placed 12th for Miller in 21:53.15. Alexis Roesler was the only other Heartland runner to place in the top 20, finishing 16th with a time of 22:35.92.
The Vikings ran away with the boys team title, finishing with 13 team points. Miller came in second with 26 points, while Highmore-Harrold placed third with 29. Faulkton Area (30 points) and Herreid/Selby Area (35) finished fourth and fifth.
Pierres Caleb Morris won the boys varsity race with a time of 16:47.25. Pierce Baumberger of Miller placed second with a time of 17:18.78 with Faulktons Korbin Stark finishing third in 17:21.82.
Park Sinclair finished fourth for Kimball/White Lake with a time of 17:35.12, followed by two Vikings in fifth and sixth place. Kaden Ober took fifth at 17:39.14 and Dax Frandsen was sixth in 17:51.91.
Brooks McPeak of Highmore-Harrold finished seventh in 18:01, with Jordan Erfman finishing 15th in 19:27.05 and Aidan Ferens coming in 18th in 19:50.95 for the Pirates.
Tayne Herrmann placed eighth for JVC in 18:52.88. Giddeon Waldner placed 14th for the Vikings in 19:25.85 and Joel Olson rounded out the top 20 in 20th place, with a time of 20:07.52.
Sam Welsch came in tenth for Wessington Springs in 18:54.61. Isaiah Gortmaker placed 12th for Miller in 19:08.83. Reagan Sandness led the Sunshine Bible Academy contingent, finishing 19th with a time of 20:06.58.
