Region 1B
WEBSTER James Valley Christian claimed both the boys and girls titles at the Region 1B Meet on Wednesday at the Webster Golf Course.
The Vikings finished with 19 points to edge Estelline/Hendrics by two points for the boys title. Frederick Area was third at 25, followed by Faulkton Area at 33 and Northwestern at 36.
Hitchcock-Tulare was ninth at 99.
Korbin Stark of Faulkton Area won the varsity boys race in 187:39.47, while Dax Frandsen of JVC was second at 18:09.35.
Kaden Ober was fifth for the Vikings at 18:32.47, while Tayne Herrmann was 12th at 19:16.94, Levi Crandall was 17th at 19:37.00 and Giddeon Waldner was 20th at 19:45.25.
Gavin Schneider and Brecken Estey led Hitchcock-Tulare, finishing in spots No. 38 and 39, respectively, with tiems of 13:33.69 and 23:46.44.
Just two points separated the top three teams in the girls varsity standings. James Valley Christian claimed the top spot with 17, while Northwestern was second at 18 and Ipswich was third at 19.
Ella Boekelheide of Northwestern turned in a winning time of 19:13.47, while Madisyn Gellhaus of Ipswich was second at 20:32.53.
JVC teammates Daril Frandsen and Hadasah Olson were third and fourth, respectively, with times of 20:42.34 and 20:43.81.
Andee Frandsen was 10th for the Lady Vikings at 22:03.88, while Micaiah Brantner was 17th at 22:56.22 and Rylin Wipf was 25th at 25:12.31.
Addy Ihnen was the lone runner for Hitchcock-Tulare. She finished 23rd at 24:41.25.
The Class B State Meet is slated for Oct. 26 in Rapid City.

ARLINGTON De Smet had three girls and a boy qualify for the Class B State Cross Country Meet with top-20 finishes during the Region 2B Meet on Wednesday at Lake Region Golf Course.
Adalyn Gross was the top runner for the Lady Bulldogs, finishing 10th at 21:54.53. Also qualifying were Cambria Gross and Alaina Albrecht, who were in spots No. 19 and 20, respectively, with times of 23:10.85 and 23:17.72.
Bella Wilkinson just missed earning a trip to state, finishing 23rd at 23:23.68, while Gemma Luethmers was 27th at 24:45.89.
Emmerson Eppard of Chester won the girls varsity race in 19:52.29.
Arlington won the girls team title with 12 points, while Chester was second at 37.
Jordan Botkin used a time of 19:04.19 to finish 15th for De Smet in the varsity boys race, earning him a trip to the state meet.
Chase Temme was 25th for the Bulldogs at 20:01.40, while Owen Anderson was 34th at 20:45.17 and Gabriel Aughenbaugh was 36th at 21:25.71.
Case Carson of Iroquois/Lake Preston was 30th at 20:29.50.
Lance Kaufman of Arlington won the varsity boys race in 18:08.42.
Gayville-Volin won the Region 2B boys title with 22 points, while the Flandreu Indians were second at 26.
The Class B State Meet is Oct. 26 in Rapid City.

SCOTLAND A pair of runners from Sanborn Central/Woonsocket qualified for state during the Region 3B Meet on Wednesday at Dawson Creek Golf Course.
Jackson Wolter finished 14th for the Blackhawks in the varsity boys race with a time of 19:21.06 to earn a trip to state.
Silas Holdeman of Mitchell Christian won the boys race in 17:05.61.
Mitchell Christian claimed the Region 3B boys title with eight points, while Freeman was second at 29.
Qualifying for state in the varsity girls race for Sanborn Central/Woonsocket was Lainey Goertz. She was 19th at 23:33.09.
Kimball/White Lake had four of the top five runners to win the girls title with eight points. Menno was second at 34.
Lily Baker of K/WL was the winner of the girls race in 20:36.23.
The Class B State Meet will be held Oct. 26 in Rapid City.

GETTYSBURG The Highmore-Harrold boys were second at the Region 4B Meet on Wednesday at the Gettysburg Country Club.
With four runners in the top 10, North Central won the boys title with 10 points. The Pirates were second at 24 to claim the other team bid for the state tournament.
Wamni Kills Crow of McLaughlin won the boys race in 16:49.52.
Brooks McPeak led Highmore-Harrold with a time of 17:19.06 to finish fourth, while Jordan Erfman was 10th at 18:13.85.
Aidan Ferens and Carter Webb finished in sp;ots No. 17 and 18, respectively, for the Pirates at 18:52.08 and 19:02.80. Jonah Webb was 25th at 20:03.71.
Sam Welsch of Wessington Springs was seventh at 17:47.92. He will be joined at the state meet by teammate Fjerstad, who was 20th at 19:30.58.
Jimmy Burma was ninth for Sunshine Bible Academy at 18:13.54. He will be joined at state by teammate Reagain Sandness, who was 14th at 18:29.60.
Jacksen Carter of Wolsey-Wessington qualified for state with a time of 18:21.64 to finish 11th.
Autumn Fallis was second for Highmore-Harrold in the girls race at 19:56.80.
Dannika Kaup of Potter County won the event in 19:31.96.
Kendal Uttecht of Wolsey-Wessington qualified for state by finishing fourth at 20:10.53. She will be joined by teammate Mya Flemming, who was 17th at 22:28.98.
Alexis Roesler of Wessington Springs advanced to the state meet with a time of 20:57.87 to finish eighth.
Also earning a trip to the state meet was Daraby Boersma of Sunshine Bible Academy, who was 20th at 22:44.78.
Potter County won the girls team title with 13 points, while Herreid/Selby Area was second at 25.
The Class B State Meet is scheduled for Oct. 26 in Rapid City.

Region 1A
WEBSTER – The Clark/Willow Lake Cyclones girls cross country team placed three in the top ten individual finishers to come out on top in the team competition at the Region 1A meet on Wednesday at Webster Golf Course in Webster.
The Cyclones scored 25 team points, out-pacing Milbank, who came in second with 37. Deuel placed third with 45. The top three teams qualified for the state meet on Oct. 26 in Rapid City.
Redfield finished seventh with 114 team points.
Deuels Jaycee Hourigan broke the tape in the girls race in 20:28.96. She was followed by Addison Cassady of Aberdeen Roncalli (20:41.21) and Clark/Willow Lakes Kamryn Nesheim (20:42.41).
Milbanks Ella Koplin and Bianca Berry finished fourth and fifth with times of 20:52.41 and 20:54.04, respectively.
Jennifer Bevers took home sixth for the Cyclones in 20:57.58 and Emma Bochek placed ninth with a time of 21:19.75.
Faith Rohrich (11th), Cadence Bochek (14th), and Hadley Gjerde (26th) rounded out the Cyclone runners with Rohrich and Bochek finishing within the top 20 individuals and also qualifying for the state meet in that respect.
Aly Gruenwald placed 23rd with a time of 23:30.87 to lead Redfield runners.
The boys team competition was incredibly exciting as Great Plains Lutheran won in a three-team battle, scoring 28 team points while Deuel came in second with 29 and Milbank finished third with 30.
Clark/Willow Lake came in fifth with 109. Redfield did not qualify in the team competition.
Ryder Graff of Sisseton won the boys varsity race in 18:00.96. He was followed by Caden Hourigan of Deuel with a time of 18:11.06 and Tyson Hagberg of Deuel in 18:16.28. Milbanks Jeter Scoular and Bryan Meyer took fourth and fifth.
Will Hovde led Clark/Willow Lake runners, placing 22nd with a time of 20:00.15 and Payton Moore paced Redfield runners in 26th place at 20:56.11 as no area runners qualified for state in the boys meet.
