BRANDON VALLEY The Brandon Valley Lynx won the Dance title at the Eastern South Dakota Conference Cheer and Dance Competition on Thursday and the Harrisburg Tigers won the Cheer portion.
Brandon Valley outdistanced runner up Harrisburg by five points in Dance, 270-75 to 265.75, winning both Pom and Jazz on the day. Harrisburg won Hip Hop. Huron finished sixth in Hip Hop and in Jazz, finishing ninth in the final team rankings, with a total of 202.75 points.
In the Cheer phase of the competition, Harrisburg rolled up 290 points to easily outdistance runner-up Brookings by 19 points. Watertown was third with 269.5.
Huron finished in a tie with Aberdeen Central for eighth, with 189.5 points.
Next up for Cheer and Dance is the State Championships, set for Oct. 26 in Rapid City.
