HURON The Huron High School seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams closed their respective seasons on Saturday, hosting the Big-4 volleyball tournament at Huron Middle School and the Nordby Center, to wrap the year,.
Seventh grade
Huron dropped a close 25-22, 25-18 match to eventual tournament winner Mitchell in the opening round of the tournament.
Alyssa Urena had three kills and Arianna James added two kills for Hruon and Bricia Miller contributed an ace. Both MaKenna Porisch and Lylli Hofer had kills as well in the match.
In the second match, Huron again played solid volleyball, but came up short against Brookings, 25-20 and 25-14. James had two kills, Urena had two aces and a kill, while Hofer had two aces and Tiana Parker added one.
Huron closed the day with a 25-14, 25-14 loss to Watertown. Hofer had two aces and two kills, while Urena and James each had a single kill.
Eighth grade
Hurons eighth-grade team also opened with a close 25-20, 25-14 loss to Mitchell.
Huron was led by five kills and a block by Arian Pfitzer, while setter Ramsey Rozelle had nine assists and also added four kills.
Both Jayla Schley and Autumn Seidschlag had two killls.
The Tigers got it rolling in the second round, dispatching Watertown 25-15, 25-23.
Pfitzer pounded home seven kills and had two aces, Schley added four kills and Rozelle had three kills, one aces and had 16 set assists in the match. Zemi Severence had an ace as well for Huron.
Huron closed the tournament with a 25-13, 25-23 loss to Brookings.
Pfitzer and Schley each had three kills and Pfitzer added three block-kills. Rozelle and Talley Hins each had solo kills, while Schley, Hins and Pfitzer each had aces.
Huron closes the season with a record of 7-10.
