To the Editor:
The election will be here shortly and some important decisions will be addressed.
I wonder how a veteran could vote for Trump, if they have listened to him call their fellow veterans – some of whom gave their lives in defense of our country – suckers and losers.
Because they died defending our democracy while he supposedly had bone spurs, which kept him from going into the service.
Trump talks about using the National Guard and the military to attack his perceived adversaries from within. This is what is done in autocratic and dictatorial countries. This should never happen in the United States. Trump told people at the Turning Point Action Believers Summit on July 21, that they wont have to vote any more if they get him elected. I have heard Elon Musk say the same thing.
Trump also calls for firing all Civic Service employees and replacing them with loyalists to the president. He also promised to eliminate the national debt in eight years. Instead, the debt increased nearly $8 trillion in four years. This was the third largest deficit increase of any president and was more than one-quarter of the national debt when Trump left office.
If you look at Project 2025 – which Trump denies knowing anything about – you will find many parts of it are what Trump is advocating in his speeches.
The last I heard, Trump is also a convicted felon, which should disqualify him from being President of the United States.
We hear so much about the economy being bad, yet travel is the highest it has ever been. You have to wait to eat at a restaurant and sports events are full of people. I understand that the cheapest seats at this years World Series were $1,200.
