To the Editor:
With only a few days before the election, we would like to remind voters to vote NO on RL21. The so called Landowners Bill of Rights, should be called Summit Bill of Rights. It takes away local control and gives it to three people in Pierre.
It also violates the South Dakota Constitution and 135 years of tradition. At a meeting few weeks ago, a legislator admitted he doesnt know whats in the Constitution. Also Summit has never built a CO2 pipeline, and we are to trust them?
CO2 is 98% pure coming out of the ethanol plants. What do we remember from 5th grade Science? That CO2 is plant food.
Ethanol plants complain that they wont survive without the pipeline. They have been subsidized for 20 plus years. If they cant make it now, maybe they need new management. Ethanol plants have also donated thousands of dollars to fight farmers who are against RL21. That is a slap in the face to every South Dakota farmer.
Remember that the Supreme Court ruled in favor of farmers. Summit is not a common carrier, its not a commodity and they cant use eminent domain.
Lets stop this boondoggle, backroom deal. As a friend told us Real farmers will Vote NO on RL21.
